Adrian is a founder, partner, and Senior Usability Engineer at Algonquin Studios, responsible for bridging the gap between the worlds of design and technology. With experience in both, he brings a unique perspective to projects, allowing both design and implementation to merge seamlessly.
Adrian has been developing accessible, effective user interfaces for the Web since 1993, as well as interfaces for multimedia and software applications. His experience also includes graphic design, web design and multimedia design, as well as extensive experience in Internet commerce. With a focus on standards and accessibility, he ensures our products can be used by users with varying levels of ability on a wide array of platforms.
Adrian uses HTML, XHTML, XML, XSL, RDF/RSS, CSS, ASP, .NET, PHP, SQL, JavaScript, and other acronyms to implement projects. He enforces accessibility guidelines as outlined in the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative levels A through AAA as well as Section 508 federal guidelines, New York State accessibility guidelines, and even some of the UK and Canadian accessibility guidelines.
He has experience on many platforms and the entire Adobe suite and many other graphic design, page layout, image manipulation, and development applications.
Adrian a founding member and contributor to evolt.org, a community, mailing list and web site made up of web professionals from around the globe who share their knowledge and experience in web development. Evolt.org has been active since 1998.
Adrian has written articles for trade journals, web sites, and participated as an author and editor on several books published by Glasshaus, including Web Graphics for Non-Designers, Cascading Style Sheets and Usability: The Site Speaks for Itself. He has also acted as a technical editor for the same publisher and developer web sites. Adrian's work has been, and still is, cited in many books and articles on usability, accessibility, and interface design.
