Degree/Education Background: Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering with an additional Major in Computer Science Carnegie Mellon University Executive Masters of Business Administration, Beta Gamma Sigma School of Management State University of New York at Buffalo What is it you do at AS? I am the Chief Operating Officer at Big Bear, Algonquin Studios’ sister company, and a Partner and Shareholder of Algonquin Studios. What do you spend time doing outside the office? Spending time with family, reading books, hanging out with my close friends from Algonquin, volunteering in various arts programs for students with special needs. I give the not-accidental appearance of collecting zombie-themed t-shirts, too. Favorite... Music: Indie (US, Canada, UK) Book: Today we’ll say…The Cornish Trilogy by Roberston Davies If you could do any job with no limitations/restrictions what would it be? Artist/Novelist – You get to talk about important thoughts over a potent glass at night and then spend the next morning trying to recall them, and tell other people about them, through many drafts of a work. I like to learn and create at my own pace. What’s the longest you’ve ever remained awake? For me, it’s 57 hours. There are probably many of you who’ve beat me, but that’s my record. At CMU I had to complete my part of a computer graphics final project for a professor who worked at Pixar. At hour 17, I remember sweating bullets when I thought my text editor (xemacs) had eaten my largest code file, only to discover that I’d scrolled it off screen. An hour later, the same thing happened again. Ungh! Since then I’ve worked to manage our projects better, making them livable and higher quality. I could only stretch like that when I was green. What you like most about AS? My greatest satisfaction after twelve years comes from three things: our happy clients, my close partners and friends, and all of the people who’ve grown with us over the years. I’m proud of our record. We have outgrown my original expectations. By the way, we now have the best kitchen, and cook the best food, of any firm I know. |
