Position: Web Designer / Developer
Position Type: Full Time

Description

Algonquin Studios is seeking qualified individuals for a Web Designer position. Web Designers will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects as part of a software and web development team. A Web Designer's primary responsibilities include designing web interfaces and writing HTML and CSS to implement W3C compliant solutions.

In this position, the candidate should expect to:

  • Design graphic and interface elements for web sites and enterprise applications.
  • Integrate designs and applications into web-based interfaces.
  • Complete specific implementation/design tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Provide feedback to application design team to improve software quality.
  • Develop templates and standards to be utilized across projects.
  • Participate in corporate standards and development process.
  • Work as an on-going development resource on multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Conduct work at client sites when necessary. 
  • Provide assistance, training and mentoring to lower level Web Designers.

Requirements

All candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong design abilities
  • In-depth familiarity with Adobe Photoshop
  • In-depth knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ability to code to W3C standards
  • Knowledge of W3C WAI and Section 508 Accessibility guidelines
  • Ability to structure time flexibly across many projects
  • Ability to learn from constructive criticism
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure
  • Good communication skills and a strong work ethic 
  • Experience with Adobe Flash a plus
