Interview with Chris Rudewicz,
PC / Network Support Technician AS: How long have you been working at Algonquin Studios? CR: I've been here for just over three months. AS: Tell us about your education and/or previous employment background: CR: For 14 of the last 17 years I worked for American Axle & Mfg. starting as an operator, then as a Manufacturing Supervisor. In 2008 American Axle decided to close the Tonawanda plant and I found myself out of work. In a cruel twist of fate my wife lost her job a month later. The upside was that I was able to pursue a new career. I went back to school and earned a degree in Information Technology, a certificate in Information Systems Security and I recently attained my Network + Certification.
AS: As a new addition to the Algonquin Studios IT team, what projects or clients are you most looking forward to working on / with? CR: Honestly I am looking forward to all of them, in the three short months I've been here I have had the opportunity to meet and work with some of our wonderful existing clients and start relationships with some brand new clients while working on a number of new projects.
AS: What have you found most rewarding about joining the Algonquin Studios team? CR: On a personal level, the people are great. On a professional level, and as a newcomer to the IT field, working for Algonquin is giving me an opportunity to develop my skills in all areas of information technology. AS: We hear you really like Arnold Schwarzenegger. How excited are you that his run as Governor of California is over and he's returning to acting? CR: Very excited. I have been a fan of Arnold's since I was a kid, following his career as a body builder, then actor, then politician. Arnold came to this country to live the American dream; he always wanted to give back and was able to do that through politics. I'm looking forward to his next movie. AS: Besides watching Schwarzenegger movies, how do you spend your free time? CR: When I'm not watching Total Recall (my favorite Schwarzenegger movie), I'm usually spending time with my family. My wife Lisa and I recently celebrated our 20 year wedding anniversary; my son Alex is preparing for college next year and my daughter Madeline is heading to high school. The rest of my free time is spent working on my saltwater reef tank. I currently have a 29 gallon tank but I'm also planning and working on a new 90 gallon tank to be up in the next few months.
