salesnewsDon't Forget! ALA Coffee & Connections - IT Roundtable

Algonquin is hosting Coffee and Connections - An IT/Computer Roundtable in conjunction with the Buffalo Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), next Tuesday, October 18th, from 11am-2pm, at the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise offices.

The event will offer ALA members the chance to use Algonquin's IT team as a sounding board for new ideas and a resource for advice or questions they may need answered. If you or someone in your organization is a member of ALA, we encourage you to attend this informative event!

2011 LMA Virginias Conference

The 2011 Continuing Marketing Education Conference, being held by the Virginias Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association, is this Friday! We're really looking forward to the full-day program, which will allow us to interact with LMA members on a more intimate level than the national conferences we attend every year. In addition to sponsoring the conference,

techMore Additions to Our Team

Please join us in welcoming some new Algonquin team members:

Frank Shafer joined us as a PC/Network Technician on September 26th. Frank is a Microsoft Certified Professional and moved to Buffalo from California, which we think is pretty awesome!

Timothy Newbold started this week as an Associate Developer. Tim comes to us from the University at Buffalo, where he recently earned his BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and Financial Analysis.

City of Buffalo SIRF Deployment

We recently made some updates to the software the City uses to run its annual foreclosure auction. This year, the system was updated to allow for the addition of multiple bidders, allowing more than one purchaser to be added to the sale of a property, and for alternate bidders, giving the auction's administrators the ability to add an alternate bidder for a property in case a property is defaulted upon. These new features helped improved the functionality of the system and offer improvements to the City's reporting and tracking processes, post-auction.

Buffalo Soccer Club Updatebscupdate

Check out this picture recap from our very successful, first-annual "Books are a Ball!" event in conjunction with Read for the Record. We had a lot of fun, reading LLama Llama Red Pajama and doing some fun, book and literacy-related activities. A special "thank you" goes out to the athletes from the UB Women's Soccer Team for joining us for the event and playing soccer with the 30 children who participated!

Interview with Greg Dooley, SWRemote Sales ManagerInterview

AS: How long have you been working at Algonquin Studios?

GD: I've been a full-time employee at Algonquin for four years. Prior to that,I'd completed a four month-long sales and marketing internship, here as well.

AS: Tell us about your education/previous employment background.

GD: I went to the University at Buffalo and hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, with concentrations in Marketing and Human Resources. Before joining Algonquin I held a position as a Human Resource Generalist at a local manufacturing plant and during my time at UB I was part of the Board of Directors for Schussmeisters Ski Club.

AS: What project(s) are you currently working on for Algonquin Studios? What project have you enjoyed most during your employment here?

GD: I've been working on sales and implementation for one of Algonquin's sister companies, SWRemote. SWRemote develops mobile software for residential service companies that allows their field technicians to capture all the pertinent job information while on a job site using a rugged, handheld unit. I work on the sales side, bringing on new clients, and then I continue working with these clients as they implement the SWRemote software and train their staff to use it.

AS: What's your favorite aspect of working at Algonquin and SWRemote?

GD:
My favorite thing about working on SWRemote is that I get to see, first hand, the benefits that our software brings to the companies that implement it. After I spend a day onsite at a customer's location assisting in implementation, I can easily see the value our software is going to bring to the company and its employees.

AS: What do you do when you're not helping SWRemote clients get up on running?

GD:
When I'm not at work I like to spend my free time golfing, playing hockey, or snowboarding. Outside of that I also enjoying watching the Bills and the Sabres and going to listen to live music.

AS: Tell us something about yourself that might surprise your co-workers or our clients.

GD: Thanks to all the traveling I do, both for work and pleasure, I've been to all but six states in the continental US. I'm also engaged and currently planning my wedding for next summer.
