Algonquin Studios announced new functionality for its highly acclaimed QuantumCMS web site content management system that allows web sites hosted on the system to support syndicated data feeds, commonly referred to as RSS feeds. QuantumCMS can both import and export RSS, offering more flexibility for sharing information with third-parties.

Authors can syndicate any content on their web site simply by linking new or existing content to the site's RSS data feed. This content will become immediately available to RSS-aware programs, called news aggregators, anywhere on the internet allowing other sites to incorporate the content. This features means a QuantumCMS web site can make selected content available to anyone who wants it.

Authors can also incorporate syndicated content from third-party web sites into their own QuantumCMS sites just as easily. The flexibility of QuantumCMS allows for web page designs and templates to incorporate third-party RSS content into a QuantumCMS web site in any look and feel.

"With the increasing use of RSS feeds by news sites, blogs and community sites like Slashdot, we realized that supporting this type of data exchange through our QuantumCMS system would allow our clients to easily share information with other sites," notes company president Greg Norton. Many news agencies, industry sites, and even government sites use RSS feeds to publish content across a broader audience, as well as to incorporate third-party content into their own, making their own sites destinations for users. RSS is even being used to share email, calendars, and other day-to-day business information. News aggregators are popular in the blogging community, as most blogs make their own content available in RSS as well as incorporating RSS feeds from other sites into their own content.
