mdellas.com and Algonquin Studios Recognized in Print Magazine's Digital Design Annual

National Design Award For Buffalo-Based Internet Commerce Firm

Buffalo, NY, October 25, 2000 -- Algonquin Studios a leading provider of web design and Internet commerce solutions, has received national recognition for its website design of the Mark Dellas Photography (mdellas.com) site. The Dellas website is featured in the July/August 2000 issue of Print Magazine. It is one of only 60 winners chosen from over 900 international entries to Interaction 2000: Print's Digital Design Annual.

Joseph P. Murphy, Creative Director for Algonquin Studios, in conjunction with freelance graphic designer Alan Kegler, wanted to distinguish the Dellas site from the many traditional sites on the Internet. The award-winning site design uses a black background to complement the high-contrast nature of the images as well as a unique navigation scheme designed to promote exploration. It was also designed within the 640x480 pixel screen so that all web browsers would center the pages of the site, creating a frame around Dellas's work.

"Sites like these, like so many of the winning entries this year, remind us that interactive design can do much more than simplify the purchase of a CD or facilitate communications with clients. In its most ingenious forms, it allows the creator to push the limits of his or her imagination, and it enables the user to not only view the results, but to play with them." The Editors, Print Magazine (July/August 2000, pg.109)
