Algonquin Studios Celebrates 5th Anniversary

Algonquin Studios, an original Byte Belt company, is celebrating its 5th anniversary. Starting with five employees in March 1998, the organization now employs seventeen and has served as the incubator for five additional high-tech companies. Algonquin Studios has been providing technology consulting, web development services and software to clients nationwide for the last five years.

Despite the recent ups and downs of the technology market, Algonquin has had steady annual growth, and expanded its software and service offerings to include:

"Five years ago we started with one client and a desire to succeed," said Steve Kiernan, Algonquin's President and CEO. "As the market failed and the dot-com bust proved business sense is more important than your web address, the companies without quality products, services, and a commitment to customer service came and went. Often, these companies left behind a trail of misspent government and venture funding. The managed approach to growth we have taken is the right one, proven by the fact that we find ourselves to be one of the only original Byte Belt companies still standing."

The management team at Algonquin Studios continues to identify new talent, products and services that will allow the company to expand its offerings to present clients as well as grow its customer base. This effort includes the recent addition of David Straitiff, founder of InfoTech Niagara, as Senior Vice President, Emerging Ventures. He will be challenged with formalizing the technology start-up growth and development efforts already underway at Algonquin Studios, and working to discover new opportunities for business development. Algonquin's first new venture under David's leadership will be in the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) market space. The initial focus of the new company is to merge existing RFID and Internet technologies to make these cutting edge systems more usable and cost effective.
